How-to Choose your first Airsoft AEG
71Intro
If you are interested in playing airsoft gun, and want to have one. Which airsoft gun you should buy? People that new to the sport often asked this question. This guide hopefully help you find the right one for you.
Why AEG?
Based from how it works, there is three types of airsoft gun, gas, spring and electric. The spring gun must be cocked manually each time you want to fire. Its hard to compete other player that runs automatic airsoft gun. This system offer a very good consistency so airsoft sniper often choose spring sniper rifle to get better accuracy and range.
The gas system offer more realistic feel than the other system since they perform slide or bolt movement each time the gun is fired(blow back). The gas blow back(GBB)pistols is good for secondary weapon. GBB Rifle (GBBR)is now available, but since the system is hold less bbs in its mag its hard to compete with aeg. Maybe you can find a team or community that use this GBBR, but since its new and more expensive its recommended not to buy it as your first airsoft gun.
Airsoft electric gun(AEG) is the most popular airsoft gun system. It uses battery as power source, so u just need to charge it before playing. Make the operating cost very low. AEG can shoot auto and the mag can hold a lot of bbs. AEG is recommended for your first and primary airsoft gun.
Some of the new player might want to become an airsoft sniper straightly, and bought an airsoft gun that is used specifically to that role(usually spring) because they thinks that snipers are cool. That is wrong. Snipers role is hard to be played and relatively boring. Maybe you can be one, but not straight away.
How to Choose Your AEG
There are few points that need to be considered before choosing the right AEG, where do you play, gun variants, brands, budget, and where to buy. If your field is mostly
Indoor, for better maneuverability look for SMG or short barreled AEG like G36C, MP5, M4CQBR
Outdoor, for more range/accuracy look for long barreled AEG like M16, G36, SIG550
Both, all round AEG that offer the balance of range and maneuverability, like M4, SIG551, G36K, AK47, AUG, etc. Since you assumed to buy only 1 AEG, this line is recommended for your first AEG.
The field where you play also have rules that mostly about safety, and game rules. You should follow these rules to make your game safe and fun.
Also consider part availability in case your AEG is broken. For example, the FAMAS model that used Version 1 gearbox, it is very difficult to find replacement parts. Read the specs and reviews, and search for replacement parts availability before purchasing.
There are many airsoft gun variants out there on the market today. Choose the variants that you like, to help narrowed down the choices. The most popular variants are the M4s, followed by Aks. Remember that you looking for AEG that works indoor or outdoor. After you choose a specific variant, look for different brands that suits your budget.
